Up to £30 million in vouchers will be available for householders throughout England and Wales to help them to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes. Up to £5,600 available to help with the cost of installing energy saving measures such as solid wall insulation, double glazing, boilers, cavity wall and floor insulation.

What is the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund?

The Green Deal helps you make energy-saving improvements to your home and find the best way to pay for them. The improvements that could save you the most energy depend on your home, but typical examples include:


Insulation
 

Heating
 

Double
Glazing
Renewable Energy Generation

Get money back

You may be able to claim back money from the government if you make energy-saving home improvements. You can get back up to 75% of the cost of installing solid wall insulation, up to £5,600. In addition, you can get up to a total of £1,000 towards the cost of installing any 2 of the following:

  • a condensing gas boiler on mains gas
  • double or triple glazing as a replacement for single glazing
  • secondary glazing
  • replacement doors
  • cavity wall insulation
  • floor insulation
  • flat-roof insulation
  • insulation for a room in the roof
  • a replacement warm air unit
  • replacement storage heaters
  • flue gas heat recovery units
  • a waste water heat recovery system

You’ll get up to £500 more if you apply within 12 months of buying a home. You can claim back up to £100 towards the cost of your Green Deal assessment if you install energy-saving improvements through the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund.

Eligibility

To qualify all of the following must apply:

  • you’re improving a domestic property in England or Wales
  • you have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), or a Green Deal assessment, and it’s less than 2 years old
  • the improvements you’re applying for are covered by the scheme
  • you use a Green Deal provider or installer registered with the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund

You can’t apply if you’re already getting money back for the same improvements through other schemes, eg the Energy Company Obligation, Green Deal Communities or Green Deal Cashback.

Claiming your cash back

Here’s how to claim,

  • Get a Green Deal assessment or an EPC on your property (Gr33n Group can provide you with this service prior to installation)
  • Get and agree quotes from Gr33n Group, we are a Green Deal installation company that is registered with the Home Improvement Fund.
  • Apply for a Home Improvement Fund voucher before the work is started.
  • Complete the work.
  • Ask Gr33n Group to sign the voucher.
  • Return the signed voucher to the address on the voucher before it expires.
